The Secret of Me - Soundtrack

SOUNDTRACK OUT NOW

Ahead of it’s Channel 4 transmission on 20th January 2026, my score to the feature documentary The Secret of Me will be released on Friday 16th January through the digital soundtrack arm of Peermusic Accorder, Redrocca.

The film follows the story of nineteen year old Kristi who discovers a secret her doctor and parents have kept from her all her life. Her search for truth uncovers a radical psychology experiment on a pair of identical twins that led to a global medical scandal.

The main musical challenge for this score was to create a coherent musical world across separate but closely related stories. These musical worlds help destinguish where we are in the story yet bleed into each other. Jim’s story is supported by piano and string quartet, David Raimer is accompanied by wuritzer piano, dulcitone , autoharp and synths, while John Money’s story is supported by distoprted tape loops, electronica and string harmonics.

I initially tried serial composition for this piece as a way of thinking about music in a non-binary way. This ended up too quirky and distracting for the images and instead I settled on a piece which didn’t use thirds to avoid obvious major/minor keys.

Big thanks to the string players Alice Allen, Kirsty Orton, Patsy Reid and Rhoslyn Lawton; and to Kevin Burleigh and the team at Gorbals Sound.

I hope you enjoy this score and please try to catch this vital and important documentary when you can.
