LOOPER

Looper was formed in 1998 by Belle and Sebastian bassist Stuart David and his wife Karn, Scott joined a year later on samples and keyboards. Stuart's brother Ronnie also joined on guitar. The live shows were multimedia events with Karn projecting her video work. After two albums, Up a Tree (1999) and The Geometrid (2000), followed by a three month tour of the U.S with The Flaming Lips they signed to Mute Records and released The Snare. Scott left the band in 2002 to concentrate on his solo musical ventures but he has collaborated with Stuart on several projects since. Stuart continues to write under the Looper name. In 2014 Looper licensed the complete back catalogue to Mute who released the box set These Things in April 2015. It contains everything the band ever recorded plus a new record Offgrid:Offline. In August 2018 Stuart and Scott performed for the first time in 16 years at The Tron Theatre in Glasgow. They performed piano versions of their electronic compositions and covered John Cage's seminal 4'33 for STUMM433, a MUTE records boxset featuring 58 musicians reinterpreting the composition.

HOBOKEN

Scott met Jonathan Carr at a Looper gig in 1999, a friendship formed and in 2001 they started the band Hoboken, a songwriting partnership which blended Jonathan's love of the classic American songbook with Scott’s love of 80s electro. Neil Cameron and Michael Banister completed the four piece on bass and keyboards/drums respectively. In 2003, under their own Royal Jelly Records imprint, Hoboken released their first single, Hotel Lisboa; second single, Vainglorious followed swiftly that same year and 2004 saw the release of album Crazy Glue. Another single Beauty Queen follwed in 2006 and a UK tour supporting The Human League. Lead singer Jonathan is now a film maker and still collaborates with Scott on soundtracks, Neil is a jazz and orchestral double bass player and Michael plays keyboards in the Scottish band Texas.
