Dear Europe

To mark what was to become to the end of an era The National Theatre of Scotland has commissioned some of Scotland’s most adventurous artists and theatre makers to present responses to our exit from the European Union.

Over the past month I’ve been working with Angus Farquhar formerly of arts organisation NVA and band Test Dept along with classical composer and percussionist Cameron Sinclair to create a piece titled Second Citizen. With thirty years of professional ties with Europe Angus has written to every EU member state asking to be considered as a Second Citizen purely on the basis of cultural exchange.

With direction by Paul Brotherston, the piece focuses strongly on Angus’ personal journey, the diplomatic responses he has received, and the expressive power of music. The music is an eclectic mix of live marimba and techno.

As it turns out we won’t be leaving (not yet) but the show will go on! There will be a one off performance at SWG3 on March 29th 2019. For more information and tickets please visit the NTS website.
