Denton and Me
Last year I wrote the music and sound for Sam Rowe's intimate and beautiful one man show Denton and Me. This week begins a 24 day run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It plays each day at Summerhall at 3:05 and runs approx 75min. To tempt you along please view the trailer below and read more about it on the Summerhall website.
1944: Fastidious diarist Denton Welch writes with astonishing honesty about his obsession for reckless land-boy Eric.
2011: A young writer is given the diaries by a family friend and discovers echos of his own life within.
This multi-layered, stunningly designed show weaves together writer/performer Sam Rowe's autobiography with the writing of Denton Welch (1915-1948), a fascinating figure in queer and literary history, and a favourite of Alan Bennett, William S. Burroughs and John Waters. A powerful, moving and humorous production, in collaboration with some of Scotland's most exciting theatrical talent. Follows success at The Arches (2015).
