The TV and film composer, whose pop credentials include stints in Looper and Hoboken, has created not only a lovely album, but a colourful and affectionate portrait of this truly singular artist’s life. The soundtrack record is as warm, entertaining and enlightening as Gray himself.
— The List
‘Lanark’ sees Gray muse on his most famous work, and the dense backing somehow captures the claustrophobic nature of its titular location – ‘Unthank’, whose soundtrack excerpt follows and which is accompanied by a Stockhausen-esque barrage of clanks and tones.
